OTHER PLANETS

Chapter 17

LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS

THIS WAS ANOTHER DEMONSTRATION SESSION for my hypnosis class in 2003. Like the last one, I had the students put their names into a box, and I picked the one I would perform the demonstration on the next day. Margaret was the one I picked. I asked her to write a list of questions for me to ask once she was in trance. Since this was the last day of the class, we chose the room of one of the students who was staying over, because most of us had given up our rooms. There were twelve of us and we again, all crowded into the small hotel room. I was sitting in the corner next to a small table by the bed, with barely enough room to turn. All the students were crowded around the bed. Some had brought chairs from the classroom, and some were sitting on the floor. Many had notebooks and were taking notes. This caused a funny remark that Margaret told us after the session. She said she could hear everyone writing, making scratching noises. She said she never heard so much writing before, and was afraid that the noise would be distracting and prevent her from going under. Yet surprisingly, to her, she went into deep trance immediately and no longer heard the sounds. When she awoke after the session, she remembered nothing, and we all had to fill her in on what had happened. The session again was unusual, but not as strange as Estelle’s during the class in 2002. I would have liked to explore this one further, but since it was for a demonstration of my technique I tried to keep it brief.

When I began this time, I remembered to record the induction, so the students would have a record of how it was done. Margaret came off the cloud onto a very barren, desolate landscape. No vegetation, just dirt with a few rocks. It was a very inhospitable environment. She noticed a few tall people standing nearby dressed in beige robes and sandals. She saw she was a man who was dressed the same way, with the robe secured by a cord around her waist. When I asked if she lived near there, she could not see any structures whatsoever, just the barren landscape. Then she was surprised to see something unexpectedly on the ground by the people. “There’s a hole in the ground,” she said. “It goes into the ground. It’s where we go down.” When she went over to it, she noticed there was a ladder going down into the hole, and she knew she could go down inside if she wanted to.

When she went down the ladder, she saw that there were many people living a very simple existence underneath the ground. There was a woman cooking over an open fire.

M: It’s a big space. It’s the entry to the passageways and to the hallways. And this is where people live.

D: Why do you live under the ground?

M: There’s nothing on top.
